I’ve wrote a lot about how we came up with this performance on my essay so I will add here some videos of the material we mixed and some documentation of forming it.
- A video of Dominique Mercy, a dancer, from the movie Pina[1]. We used that for the bit that I’m telling about my memories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn6PP5ZLhBE
There is something in the way mercy move and something about the everyday life feeling that we wanted to add to go against the text.
- Marina Abramović and Ulay ‘Light/ Dark’, 1977,Kunstmarkt Köln. We used that for the bit of ‘I remember/you remember’. Mark is trying to wake my memories, and we are playing with this border line between fiction and real. The slapping is real and in character all the same time. So is Abramović and Ulay action. They are performing or in a performative situation but also in this limbo between themselves and the representation of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKuDsFuV2lA
- Yoko Ono, Bag Piece, 1964. I saw/preformed it in the summer of 2015 at the MOMA, NYC. ( a video of that-
) We used it to the audience participation bit. The audience is trying to wake up my memories but I don’t want to hear it, or to be judged or to even to try and accept the past. We connected it to the term ‘bagism’, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagism) and to this work. (more on that https://news.artnet.com/art-world/critic-trapped-momas-yoko-ono-gala-298404 )
